We're sitting together on Gerrit's new patio. Next to the new seating area is an array of grills: a kettle grill, a large green egg 😉, a huge smoker, and Gerrit's beloved Broil King gas grill.

Gerrit is standing at the gas grill today, piling food onto the shelf. He doesn't look happy. I walk over, press a cold Kölsch beer into his hand, and say, "All this grilling equipment, and yet we still put everything on the shelf so it gets really dry and soggy."

"If you have a better solution, let me know. Until then, you can hold the plate," says Gerrit, annoyed by my subtle criticism of his "grill fleet," and starts piling steaks and sausages onto the much too small plate in my hand.
